Standard features of the Merlin Safari

Over the years of building the Safari trailer we have listened to our customer's comments and gathered our feedback. We are constantly looking for new ways to improve our Merlin Safari to suit you, the people who buy our trailer for your holidays and expeditions. All ideas for improvements and modifications are taken seriously, and when we feel that these improvements will benefit you and the trailer, we try to incorporate them in our design.

Galvanized box section chassis:

Each 3mm thick box section chassis is precision jig welded before being hot dip galvanized to give unrivalled lifetime corrosion resistance.

Fenders:

Integrated into the construction of the chassis, the fenders at each corner protect the wheels, axles and suspension from impact with other traffic and also help protect the body in any collision. In off-road situations they will also help protect the trailer from brushes with rocks and trees…

Beam axle with leaf sprung suspension:

Heavy Duty beam axle gives plenty of ground clearance, coupled with Leaf sprung (rated to 1700kg) suspension for durability. Simplicity is the key to long term endurance and the ability for field repairs if ever necessary.

Cable operated drum brakes:

Efficient, reliable and rated to 1500kg. Simple to maintain whether used normally or on expeditions.

Heavy duty triple lid hinges:

These lid hinges have stood the test of time for nearly 50 years on Land Rovers and work perfectly here. In triplicate they give adequate strength for the lid when used in conjunction with roof racks carrying Bikes, canoes, surf boards, skis or snowboards… They also are strong enough when fitting various types of roof tent on to the lid.

Locking gas strut assisted lid:

To help take the weight of the lid when opening, especially when laden, the gas struts also lock to give support when loading or unloading.

Triple keyed alike lid lock set:

Triple and keyed alike give visual security as well as deter the chance thief from getting in.

Water and weather resistant light clusters:

New for 2007 these light clusters a vibration resistant and make bulb replacement easy without the need for tools. The rubber mounting panel help protect the units from excess ingress of water and dust. Also available in LED form.
