Toyota Land-Cruiser:
Built to realise the dream for the Lunde family from Norway. Their dream was to drive from their home in Norway across Europe and Africa to their New home on the island of Zanzibar off the East African coast. The high specification had to cater for the whole family, 2 adults and 2 teenagers who would live out of the vehicle on this epic adventure that would “last as long as it took”.
The fresh water tank in the back provided drinking and cooking water. The filler was accessed through the fuel filler flap which was lockable. Internal window guards provided security to the side and rear windows.
An internal cage was specially built to house shelving for storage for clothing and food. There is still room to the sides for storage.
Diesel fuelled cooking grill and hob provided cooking facilities. The fuel was sourced from the main vehicle fuel tank saving the hassle of searching for and storing alternative fuel for cooking. The Chequer plate provided protection to the tail gate and gives a great food prep surface.
A Yellow top Optima provided the auxiliary power. This also received a power charge from a demountable Solar panel.
Internal roof netting provided storage for day to day items. Also just visible to the top right is the flip down 7” screen for playing DVD’s and even a play station.
A C.B. provides a bit of peace of mind when travelling abroad. Communications with the outside world can be a life saver. Also the 6 stack C.D. layer provides a bit of entertainment (when you are bored of the play station).
The entertainment centre in the front controls the CD’s, DVD’s etc… Also visible are the 3 control switches for the ARB locking diffs.
Roof mounted spot lights and work lamps, switched individually gave extra driving lights also night time lighting. The expedition shovel is also a useful bit of kit.
The roof rack gives a great base for the roof tent and Hi-Lift Jack to be mounted.
The roof rack also gave the space for this storage box used for low weight items such as tents etc... Also the Spare fuel and Emergency water is stored here.
Setting up the tent for the first time really got the travel bug taste buds going.
The cooker slides out on rails for easy use and storage, while Wolf boxes are used to store clothing and food etc… Aluminium lashing rail is used to secure the storage boxes.
Safe and secure storage was provided for by the Mobile Storage systems Drawer under the floor.
